- your planned procedure
- location & operation of safety equipment
- response to earthquake, fire, chemical spill
- how to get assistance - call 911
- how to evacuate safely
- your evacuation gathering location
- hazardous waste disposal
- your own limits: vision, strength, coordination & mobility
- when to ask for help
- who to call for help

Work Carefully |
DO:
- arrive prepared
- always be thoughtful & professional
- wear lab coat, goggles & closed shoes
- restrain long clothing & hair
- choose gloves for the task
- use fume hoods for volatile hazardous materials
- label all containers
- store hazardous materials in trays/tubs
- report all accidents
- maintain clean work areas
- return all materials to storage
- dispose of wastes & sharps correctly
- follow instructions in emergency or evacuation

Don’t Mess Around |
DON’T:
- work alone
- eat
- drink
- smoke
- chew gum
- put anything in the lab in your mouth
- touch gloves or hands to your face
- leave hazardous materials uncontrolled or unlabeled
- leave your group during an evacuation (until dismissed by instructor)
- ignore a hazardous situation - report it & get help
