We strongly encourage undergraduates to participate in independent
research through the Chemistry 199 course. Participating in undergraduate
research provides you with hands-on experience in the laboratory under
the guidance of our outstanding faculty. This experience gives you skills
and knowledge that will help prepare you for graduate study or work
in industry.
Consult with your college and major adviser about the possibility of
counting Chemistry 199 units toward your undergraduate degree or toward
honors in your major.
To qualify for Chemistry 199, you must:
- Have completed 90 or more units.
- Have an overall UCSD GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Identify a faculty member in whose lab you
will work.
- Submit a Chemistry 199 form.
