Financial Administration

The Financial Administration of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Business Office provides business services such as pre and post award contract and grant administration, development and oversight of departmental budgets, recharge facility financial administration, gift processing, business contracts administration.

Pre-award Contract and Grant Administration

  • Salary projections
  • Assistance in the completion of agency budget forms
  • Assistance in the interpretation of agency guidelines and calls for proposals
  • Review proposals for completeness, including all applicable agency and UCSD forms
  • Internal signature routing
  • Submission to Office of Contracts and Grants
  • Train and support lab Administrative Assistants

Post-award Contract and Grant Administration

  • Process and approve disbursements: Purchase orders/requisitions, travel, recharges, check requests, express card administration
  • Funds management including salary and other projections
  • Provide monthly reports via MyFunds
  • Facilitate agency approvals on rebudgeting, carry over balances and extensions
  • Facilitate nonpayroll & payroll expense transfers, transfers and allocations of funds
  • Prepare close-outs including financial reports
  • Assist in submission of final reports
  • Train and support lab Administrative Assistants

Recharge Facility Support

  • Develop rate models and submit rate proposals to campus committee
  • Provide billing services
  • Generate service utilization reports
  • Manage funds and prepare monthly financial reports
  • Develop annual budgets

Gift Processing

  • Provide guidance on gift acceptance administration
  • Provide monthly financial reports
  • Provide stewardship

Departmental State Funds Administration

  • Develop budgets
  • Manage and monitor state fund activity
  • Provide financial administration for start ups & renovation funds
  • Administer Faculty Salary Exchange Program
