Our program on Structural Biochemistry integrates high-resolution information obtained by X-ray Crystallography with Cryo-Electron Microscopy data to study DNA-binding proteins and membrane proteins.
In the past, we have studied the catalysis and specificity of the restriction endonuclease BamHI to atomic resolution by X-ray crystallography, the specificity of Aquaporin-9 by electron crystallography and the specificity of beta-lactamase by combinatorial mutagenesis. We have also used single particle reconstruction techniques to obtain a 25 Å structure of the complex separase-securin.
