Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program (National Academies of Sciences)* Sep 8, 2017 for 2018 Graduate students and those who have completed graduate studies within the last five years may apply. Spend 12 weeks at the Academies in Washington, DC. $9,000 stipend to offset expenses for 2017's 12-week session US Citizen/Permanent Resident, U.S. nationals, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and non-US citizens holding visas under specific categories listed (F-1, J-2, J-1). 
Dept of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program (DOE SCGSR) App closed for 2018 Applicants must have obtained the Ph.D. candidacy at their home institution, and must have established a defined graduate thesis project and graduate thesis advisor. Applicants must be pursuing a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, material sciences, or biology (non-medical). Specifically, applicants must demonstrate that their graduate thesis research is in an area of fundamental research aligned with the DOE Office of Science Priority Research Areas identified for the 2016 SCGSR Solicitation 2 (outlined here). Supplemental awards to spend 3-12 consecutive months at a DOE national laboratory; includes travel to the laboratory and a monthly stipend of up to $3,000  US Citizen/Permanent Resident

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships (For Achieving Excellence in College and University Teaching) Dec 14, 2017 for 2018 Applicants must be planning a career in teaching and research at the college or university level in a research-based field of science. Applicants require a minimum of three years of study to complete their Ph.D. degree, and are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level.
