Sheila Kennedy wins 2014 Fawcett CHAS Award
Sheila Kennedy, C.H.O., Safety Coordinator for the Teaching Laboratories in the Department
of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC San
Diego, has been selected to receive the 2014 ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety
Howard Fawcett Award in recognition of her contributions, innovations and creativity in
assisting students with disabilities who are taking chemistry (and other) laboratory
courses. Her efforts have enabled students with disabilities to better experience, learn
and appreciate laboratory chemistry. The ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety presents
this award each year to recognize outstanding contributions to the science, technology,
education and communication of chemical health and safety. The award is shared with the Office for Students with Disabilities (Joanna Boval Director).
